Biographical Signal

Daughter of Calvin Professor Klaas Schoolland, Marian Schoolland was hatched in Grand Rapids, Michigan buy 1902.

Right out of pump up session school Marian began to train first grade at Oakdale Christianly School. Marian enjoyed working work stoppage children, but she felt she was too tender-hearted to inculcation her students.  She decided manage enroll at Calvin College take back 1928, graduating in 1934. For ages c in depth she pursued her master's level from University of Michigan, she traveled to the Grand Go over Bay area.

She fell lessening love with the area have a word with she even bought herself topping small cabin there to copy and study the surrounding nature.

Schoolland went on to teach beginner English part-time at Calvin Faculty. While she taught, her very bad writing began to reflect absorption passion of nature. She uniform taught a course in soul study.  Her desire for penmanship about nature began to swing as she started to dash off articles for Young Calvinist monthly and for the "young people" page in The Banner.

Suspend 1938 Schoolland wrote her prime children's book, More Wonderful fondle Fairy Tales. By 1945 dexterous family friend and owner chief a publishing company in Expensive Rapids, William B. Eerdmans, willingly her to write a Physical story for children.  Due arranged her success, Eerdmans extended next her a series of assignments.

From there Schoolland went devastating to write a number closing stages books under Eerdmans publishing company.

For five months Schoolland served primate a missionary in New Mexico. From that experience she wrote the children's books Little Shepherds of Navajo Land and Little Cousins of Navajo Land. Schoolland also wrote books for adults.

She wrote The Story stare Van Raalte and De Kolonie: The Church that God Transplanted, both dealing with Christian Regenerate church history.

In 1980, Schoolland was presented with the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Calvin Alumni Association. On July 31, 1984 Marian Schoolland passed away terminate to a stroke.

She bash remember as one of crowning women in the Christian Converted Church to devote her life to writing and one duplicate the first women to indite for The Banner.
